Foodfrom 05.07 to 05.07.2011Museum Brasserie, St Helier, Jersey RESTAURANT REVIEW. This restaurant is at its most enjoyable when warm weather allows you to dine out of doors in the courtyard. It is a pleasant place: the courtyard is the entrance to the Jersey Museum next door, and there are pools and running water and overhead pergolas all conducive to the enjoyment of an unhurried lunch. The restaurant inside is clean and bright, and the entrance is reached from the entrance hall to the museum.
Next door is the Royal Yacht Hotel and its chrome-infested restaurants for PR people and their business lunches. But the Museum Brasserie, as its name suggests, caters more for visitors to the museum who also are taking in a lunch during the course of their visit. The service can be sometimes be as leisurely as the museum visitors, and the food can sometimes be on the bland side, although on a good day you can be lucky and enjoy a good meal served promptly.
It is sometimes open in the evening – but inquire first before setting off there, The courtyard also makes a pleasant venue if you have to host a reception, especially on a warm summer’s evening.
A lunch for two coasts around £25, including main course, two glasses of wine and coffee. The menus are detailed on their website, and are orientated towards fish/shellfish/white meat /salad/main courses. Also open during the day for tea/coffee
Not outstanding gastronomically, but perfectly pleasant and relaxing, with friendly service. A good place to take the weight off your feet after visiting a museum exhibition.
It’s very popular, so wise to book.
