Artfrom 10.06 to 31.12.2010Le Petit Greek Cafe, St Helier, Jersey RESTAURANT REVIEW. There are two things going for this unpretentious but excellent café-restaurant: first, its location; secondly, its food.
Royal Square is the heart of St Helier, and the café is located straight across the square from the States building. No traffic, of course, and there is a terrasse outside, which makes the ambiance quite continental, apart from anything else.
The clientèle comprises office workers enjoying a lunch break, interspersed, when the States are sitting, with members relaxing after a hard morning’s – er, talking.
Secondly, the food: the menu is roughly 50 per cent Greek, with the balance Italian – pizzas etc. The food is authentic, and prepared fresh daily; nothing is frozen.
Excellent moussaka and dolmades, for example. The chips are European as well: pommes frites rather than English bloated and soggy chips.
Lunch for two: about £25 for two main courses, glasses of wine and coffee.
