Foodfrom 07.08 to 31.12.2010Bonne Nuit Beach Café, Jersey, Channel Islands RESTAURANT REVIEW. What a bon little place to visit. Set against the idyllic backdrop of Bonne Nuit harbour, the beach café is certainly one of the best-kept secrets of Jersey. It’s perfect for families wishing to combine a play on the beach with lunch or a simple unfussy romantic meal for two on a weekend evening.
After choosing whether to sit in the conservatory or main restaurant, the next decision is which food to order from a menu offering mouth-watering Thai as well as European food. It’s the Thai food that many flock here to sample.
Using fresh local produce, the Thai chef creates tongue tingling dishes ranging from the favourites of Pad Thai and Red Curries to a variety of stir-fry dishes. Be sure to order the curries to your preference of spiciness.
There’s a standard children’s menu available for those fussy eaters as well, and what nicer way to fulfil an appetite than looking out over Bonne Nuit Bay. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. In the evenings, at weekends, diners can bring a bottle of wine with them to enjoy, as this café is currently unlicensed. Arrive early at lunch at weekends to avoid waiting too long for a table. This place really is a hidden gem.
What we ate: Thai chicken Red Curry with pilau rice and chicken stir-fry.
Cost: A little over £20 for two including soft drinks
