Jersey marks road safety week from 21-26 November at a time when deaths or serious injuries on the 750 km of the island’s narrow roads and lanes have increased to 62 from 47 in a year.
The week will see a crackdown on vehicles jumping red lights in the main town St Helier, a documentary film about the dangers of drinking and driving, a campaign in schools and instructions on safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists.
Different aspects of safety will be highlighted each day and on the final day a driving challenge has been arranged by one the island’s main car dealers to assess drivers’ safety skills.
